Kylie Minogue - Let's Get To It

#anniversary
29 years ago today Kylie Minogue entered the UK album chart at #15 with Let's Get To It.
The album would peak at #15 and spend a total of 12 weeks on the chart.

Let's Get To It was Kylie's fourth album and her final in collaboration with the PWL label. Her contractual obligations with PWL had been fulfilled, having signed for three studio albums, but all parties decided to make one final album.
Recording took place in June and July 1991 with Kylie sharing song writing duties for the first time.

Singles

"Word Is Out" was serviced as the lead single for the album in August 1991, with "Say the Word - I'll Be There" as the B-side. The single was available as a limited edition 12" Summer Breeze mix, which "radically remixed" and reduced "the synthesised band sound" from the original version. Mushroom Records released this remix as the single in Australia.
It peaked at number sixteen on the UK Singles Chart, her first single to not to reach the top ten, therefore breaking her run of thirteen consecutive top-ten singles. However, it reached number ten in Australia, and number eight in Ireland.

The second single "If You Were with Me Now", a duet between Minogue and Keith Washington, was released in October.  It was credited as written by Stock/Waterman/Minogue/Washington and the two singers recorded their parts in separate studios, meeting only briefly on the set of the video for the first time.
The single reached number four in the United Kingdom, becoming Minogue's first co-written top-five hit. It also peaked at number seven in Ireland, and number twenty-three in Australia.

The third single release from Let's Get To It, "Give Me Just A Little More Time" was originally a hit single for Chairman Of The Board in 1970 where it reached number 3 in both the UK and the US, where it sold more than a million copies.
Kylie's version was released in January 1992 and featured in the latest Accurist watch commercial. One of the last songs to be recorded for the album, it went one better than the original, peaking at number 2 in the UK and selling over 325,000 copies.
It reached number 24 in Australia, 13 in Belgium and 6 in Ireland.

"Finer Feelings" was the final release from Let's Get to It and was actually planned as the follow-up to "Word Is Out", but was held back in favour of "If You Were with Me Now". "Finer Feelings" finally appeared in April 1992, remixed by Brothers in Rhythm and narrowly missed out on the top ten, peaking at number eleven on the UK charts.

Despite being Minogue's least successful PWL-era album, it remains a firm fan favourite, with many stating appreciation of it only years after it's original release.
It was probably always going to be difficult following up her previous, Rhythm Of Love album and "those four" singles, but Let's Get To It deserves credit for experimenting with different genres and exploring the diverse grooves of the early 90s, from New Jack Swing and R&B to house and techno.
