Kylie Minogue - Step Back In Time

30 years ago today, Kylie Minogue entered the UK singles chart at #9 with Step Back In Time. 

The song would peak at #4 and spend 8 weeks on the chart.

Step Back In Time was taken from Kylie's third album, Rhythm Of Love. Released as the albums second single on 22nd October 1990 it was written, arranged and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman.

Step Back In Time was composed as a Disco song that intended to pay tribute to the 1970's culture. According to Minogue's website, the lyrical content "paid homage to the classic songs and dance moves of the Disco era".
The single made the Top 10 in Australia, Finland, Ireland, Spain and of course the UK. It also hit the Top 40 charts in Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, New Zealand, Sweden and Switzerland.

The album would peak at #15 and spend a total of 12 weeks on the chart. Let's Get To It was Kylie's fourth album and her final in collaboration with the PWL label. Her contractual obligations with PWL had been fulfilled, having signed for three studio albums, but all parties decided to make one final album.
