Robson & Jerome - I Believe/Up On The roof

25 years ago today Robson & Jerome entered the UK singles chart at #1 with the double A single, I Believe/Up On The Roof.

The song would spend 4 weeks on top and a total of 20 weeks on the chart.


I Believe was best known as a single by Frankie Laine in 1953 where it spent 18 weeks at #1 in the UK . Robson & Jerome recorded their version with Mike Stock and Matt Aitken in 1995.

Up On The Roof was originally a hit for The Drifters in 1963, reaching #5 on the US singles chart. In the UK it was a top 10 hit for Kenny Lynch the same year.
